Glamping Near Grand Rapids
DayDreamer Domes is luxury dome glamping on 150 private acres in South Haven, Michigan, about an hour and fifteen minutes from Grand Rapids straight down I-196. Gold geodesic domes, a heated pink pool club, LUNARA spa and complimentary wellness classes (schedule varies by season).
The drive
Leave Grand Rapids after work, be in a dome by dinner
One highway, one hour and change, and the city is completely gone.
This is the shortest big-city drive we have. From downtown Grand Rapids you take I-196 southwest through Holland and Saugatuck, follow the coast, and arrive at 397 Blue Star Hwy in South Haven in roughly an hour and fifteen minutes. No airport, no tent, no packing list longer than a weekend bag.
Because the drive is so short, Grand Rapids guests get away with things Chicago guests cannot: a one-night stay that still feels like a trip, a Sunday spa afternoon on a whim, a day pass at the pool followed by dinner back home. Most people book two nights anyway, because the property has more on it than a weekend can hold.

What's waiting
A resort, not a rental
The dome is the headline. The other 149.9 acres are the reason people rebook.
Each gold geodesic dome is fully insulated and climate controlled, with 1 or 2 queen beds, luxury linens, a 15-foot stargazing window, mini fridge, microwave and kettle, keyless entry and a full bath inside, no midnight walk in the dark. Several domes feature a private six-seater hot tub. Outside your door: the heated pink pool on its 20,000 sq. ft. turf lounge, shipping-container cabanas, 150 acres of open trails, an 18-hole frisbee golf course and a 5,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with a bodega, restaurant, bar, boutique and event salon.
Then there is LUNARA spa: a 60-minute float tank session for $75, sound bed therapy for $45, a private sauna for up to eight guests at $100, reiki at $150 and bodywork from $155. Daily wellness, goat yoga, breathwork, guided meditation and mimosa hikes, comes free with direct booking. That is a lot of trip for a 75-minute drive.
- Complimentary wellness classes (schedule varies by season) with direct booking
- Pool club + turf lounge access in season
- Full bath inside every dome
- Open trails across 150 private acres
- Fire pits, lawn games + clubhouse movie nights
- Boutique with eats, treats and forgot-it essentials
Nearby
Lake Michigan is six minutes away
Beach mornings, downtown afternoons, wide-open nights.
The nearest public beach is a six-minute drive and downtown South Haven is seven, so a Lake Michigan sunset is a spontaneous decision rather than a plan. Saugatuck, which you already drove past, is twenty minutes back north if you want a second town. Read our guide to the best beaches near South Haven before you go.
Two notes before you book: the pool is seasonal (the next season opens May 22, 2027), and the Pool Club age policy is firm. Kids are always welcome in the domes. The Pool Club is 6+ Monday through Friday afternoons and 21+ on summer weekends, and children under 6 are never permitted in the Pool Club area at any time.
