What's waiting

A resort, not a rental

The dome is the headline. The other 149.9 acres are the reason people rebook.

Each gold geodesic dome runs 386 square feet, fully insulated, with a king or queen bed, a private entrance on 150 rolling acres, a Starview window at the front of the dome and a full bath inside the dome, no midnight walk in the dark. Outside your door: the heated pink pool on its 20,000 sq. ft. turf lounge, shipping-container cabanas (the King Cabana seats ten), hiking across 150 acres and a 5,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with a bodega, restaurant, bar, boutique and a speakeasy-style event salon.

Then there is LUNARA spa: a 60-minute float tank session for $75, sound bed therapy for $45, a private sauna for up to eight guests at $100, reiki at $150 and bodywork from $155. Wellness classes, including goat yoga, breathwork, guided meditation and mimosa hikes, comes free with direct booking. It is a lot of trip for a two-hour drive.

  • Complimentary wellness classes (schedule varies by season) with direct booking
  • Pool club + turf lounge access in season
  • Full bath inside every dome
  • Open trails across 150 private acres
  • Fire pits, lawn games + clubhouse movie nights
  • Boutique with eats, treats and forgot-it essentials

Nearby

Lake Michigan is six minutes away

Beach mornings, downtown afternoons, wide-open nights.

The nearest public beach is a six-minute drive, so a Lake Michigan sunset is a spontaneous decision rather than a plan. Downtown South Haven, piers, shops, ice cream, marina walks, is seven minutes out, and Saugatuck's waterfront is twenty. Chicagoans tend to do one beach morning, one downtown afternoon, and spend the rest of the weekend refusing to leave the property.

Two notes before you book: the pool is seasonal (the next season opens May 22, 2027), and our pool club age policy is firm. Kids are always welcome in the domes. The Pool Club is 6+ Monday through Friday afternoons and 21+ on weekends, and children under 6 are never permitted in the Pool Club area at any time.

Any season

When to make the drive

Summer (pool season)

The pink pool is heated and open, the 20,000 sq. ft. turf lounge fills up, and the nearest public beach is six minutes away. Friday and Saturday nights are 21+.

Fall

West Michigan turns gold, the trails go quiet and the domes stay perfectly warm. Shorter lines downtown, a drive from the city that varies with traffic and conditions.

Winter & spring

The domes are insulated, warm in the winter, cool in the summer, so snow season becomes sauna, float tank and fire-pit season instead.

Planning a dome getaway from Chicago

Leave the city without overplanning the weekend

If you are looking for glamping near Chicago, South Haven offers a Michigan destination where a dome stay can anchor the trip. DayDreamer Domes combines private accommodation with shared dining and activity options, so you can choose between staying around the property and heading into town. The important planning question is not a perfect drive time on a quiet day. It is whether your departure, arrival and return schedule leave enough time to enjoy the visit.

Use a navigation app for your starting address and departure time. Chicago traffic, road work, weather and holiday travel can change the drive substantially. Do not plan a nonrefundable appointment immediately after a tight arrival estimate. South Haven is in Eastern Time, while Chicago is in Central Time, so confirm local times on reservations and tickets. That simple check helps avoid arriving late even when the drive itself goes smoothly.

Choose accommodation for your group

A trip for two has different needs from a shared getaway. Compare the three dome experiences for beds, guest limits and the amenities that matter to you. Every dome includes a private full bath, climate control, a mini fridge, keyless entry and linens. You can pack for a short stay instead of bringing a camping setup. If you need a particular accommodation feature, confirm it through the booking information or contact the team before paying.

For several couples or a group of friends, check each reservation rather than assuming adjoining accommodation or exclusive access. Separate dome bookings do not create a property buyout. If the purpose of the trip is a retreat, celebration or organized gathering, use the appropriate group inquiry instead. Share your preferred dates, approximate attendance and whether everyone needs overnight accommodation. That gives the team a useful starting point for discussing the right arrangement.

A manageable packing and booking checklist

Bring clothing for the forecast, comfortable footwear, any personal items you need and reservation confirmations you can find easily on your phone. Add swimwear only if you plan to use an available pool or booked water experience. An extra layer is useful when you spend an evening outside. Leave valuables and equipment you do not need at home, and ask about any storage or accessibility requirement that affects your stay.

Reserve the accommodation first, then confirm dining plans, treatment appointments and ticketed activities separately. Review each provider's confirmation and cancellation terms. Keep one shared itinerary for your group, using local times and the actual booking links. Before returning to Chicago, check traffic again and leave a comfortable margin. The point of the getaway is time away from the normal routine, not a race between appointments. Explore the Stay page for accommodation details and use the current availability link when you are ready to choose dates.

DayDreamer Domes is at 397 Blue Star Highway in South Haven, Michigan. Use the resort name and address together when checking directions. Confirm any separate appointment location in its own booking confirmation rather than assuming every provider uses the same entrance.
